Kelly D. “Danny” Horton
Mr. Horton has over 45 years Towing & Recovery industry experience as well as a trainer working all aspects of large tow and
recovery operations. He has performed thousands of towing, recovery, hazmat, and aircraft recovery operations. He also
has 8 years of truck tractor semi-trailer trucking experience spanning coast to coast throughout the United States.
He served as an instructor at the Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) under David A. Stopper, Director at the Institute for Heavy Truck
and Transportation Safety in areas of towing & recovery, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Preparation Course, DOT Compliance,
and VA DMV Certified Truck Defensive Driving Course.
Mr. Horton’s experience includes serving as an instructor teaching towing & recovery safety from coast to coast for municipalities,
state towing associations, trade shows, and towing companies. He has supervised the production of operational safety videos for a
major towing manufacturer. He is published on towing & recovery safety and operational articles in major towing & recovery magazines.
He owned & operated Horton Truck & Equipment Co. in Manassas, VA for over 17 years, a major sales and second stage vehicle manufacturer
of towing & recovery equipment. He has and continues to work with major towing and recovery manufacturers in design and assembly of
custom equipment from standard one ton tow trucks to 85 ton “Super Wreckers”.
Mr. Horton is well established in the towing & recovery industry including being awarded People’s Choice Award for Dealer of the
Year by Tow Times Magazine (2001). He has served on the Board of Trustees for TRAA (Towing & Recovery Association of America) as
well as their Education Committee. He has been directly involved in the creation and writing of the initial test as well as study
guide for towing and recovery operators National Certification Program.
Mr. Horton continues to be active in the towing & recovery industry including design, sales and operation of all types of tow
recovery equipment and vehicles.
